EFW Oktoberfest 2009 has arrived
"Sometimes I feel like throwing my hand up in the air" sang Candi
Staton in her hit tune 'You Got The Love'. Well, we know just how the
Statonmeister felt because we feel like doing the same right here, right now. Lord, we just don't care - owing to the fact that the
EFW team are going on an
EFW - just how we like it.
It's not just myself and the usual suspects that will be in attendance though, oh no - thirty bloody two of us from all around that there Europe. So what's on the agenda:
Friday 23rd October 2009
Ruud Van
Nistelbus started his league career at Den Bosch. If it was good enough for him, it's good enough for us. After an afternoon of beer in
Tilburg (where we've booked our own pub) it'll be on the train for the short journey to
Hertogenbosch Oost. After this
Eerste Divisie match we'll be heading back into
Tilburg to celebrate our good work with a trip to the cinema. Either that or back to the pub - we've yet to vote.
Saturday 24th October 2009

How did we react to being laughably rebuffed by
NAC Breda (long story)!? We booked up an
EFW coach and decided to tackle two games in two different countries in one day. Fancy some huge terracing, beer stalls dotted all round the ground, 7.50 Euro match tickets, one of the biggest rivalries in the lower divisions, and fanatical fans to boot!? Rot-Weiss Essen v SC
Preußen has all of this and more. Bring it on.

After the excitement of Germany in the afternoon we board the
EFW coach back into the Netherlands for some
Eredivisie action (Dutch Premiership to you and I). The
Gelredome has a retractable roof and a pitch that slides in and out of the stadium willy and if you would
nilly. Were
Vitesse a bit sceptical about receiving 32 members of the
EFW team!? No, they gave us discounted match tickets and faxed over a free parking pass for our coach. That's the way to do it.
Sunday 25th October 2009

We'll be based in
Tilburg for the three days so it's only polite that we pay our hosts a visit. So we'll be popping in for Sunday lunch at the
Koning Willem II
Stadion when they play host to SC
Heerenveen in the
Eredivisie (Dutch
Prem) at 14:30. Again the home side offered us discounted match tickets and in return we help boost their behind the bar takings for the day.
If you aren't coming with us you can follow our weekend antics on
Twitter by
CLICKING ME. The Tweets also appear on this homepage, scroll down (past all the nonsense) to the bottom of the menu on the right hand side and our last 5 (five) Tweets will always appear there.
If you support one of the above teams, feel free to get in touch and we'll meet you for a beer and a chat. Reports will appear on these pages and on our
sister Facebook site over the course of the following week. Incredibly, there are also a few EFW t-shirts still available as well. Not too many though. That's it folks, this is the one we've been waiting for.......
