It was HSV hooligans. No Chelsea, No WHU, No Linfield. No Rangers. Also why use the word "fans" Are you too stupid to realise that hooligans are not fans. They are hooligans. The day when people cannot attend a game anymore in safety, it may be better to not have games at all anymore. Not only speaking about this event (I did not see the game thus cannot comment) but in general. I mean, HSV and Rangers and Wesy Ham ; what have those latter two to look for at this Hamburg derby? Friendships between clubs are silly in some way, but while sillyness may sound innocent, it contributes to tribalism and clan forming which can easily get out of hand. I've seen and been victim of a few such cases myself (not in Germany though). As much as I love the game, I would no longer wish to attend games with a high risk factor. I love football but I do prefer to attend games in an atmosphere of safety, not an atmosphere of intimidation and fear for riots. A minority of people ruins it for a much larger group of people. In a way I am not surprised with HSV and Rangers being involved though, while realising here too a small minority causes the riots these clubs have caused hassle before several times ... I was once attacked by fans of a team that wasn't even playing that day but just found a random other game where they could cause mayhem, they waited until the game was over and then attacked those leaving the stadium, the police being with too few people and afraid to interfere. I would skip this type of games, although I deeply regret it has come that far that a minority of people get a majority far enough they have to leave games halfway for their own security.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3338911017388638492.post-48992213403163287032011-02-18T23:21:18.311+00:002011-02-18T23:21:18.311+00:00The day when the derby was to be played the Jolly ...The day when the derby was to be played the Jolly Rodger was attacked by a combination of HSV/Rangers/Chelsea/Linfield and West Ham fans!!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3338911017388638492.post-2852248933644059272011-02-18T21:24:26.440+00:002011-02-18T21:24:26.440+00:00@ Dave and everyone else reading this:
Similar act...@ Dave and everyone else reading this:
Similar action had been taken by the police at last week's 2.Bundesliga match Aue v 1860. Haven't been there myself but have spoken to some of the fans who went. Two groups of fans who have no rivalry or animosities towards each other, yet dozens of people injured because of 'security measurements'. Detailled report on here (in German):
http://www.stadionwelt-fans.de/index.php?head=Verletzte-nach-Polizeieinsatz-in-Aue&folder=sites&site=news_detail&news_id=40481860erhttp://www.1860er.de/noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3338911017388638492.post-9857407499685926152011-02-18T11:43:07.386+00:002011-02-18T11:43:07.386+00:00This is a really worrying development in German fo...This is a really worrying development in German football. Police (and authorities) are taking this no nonsense approach to all fans who don't belong to the prawn sandwich brigade and, to sound like an old man, one of these days someone's gonna get badly hurt, or worse.

There are countless examples of overzealous policing throughout the season. DFB Pokal first round, Halle FC vs. Union Berlin is the Red Bull Bowl in Leipzig and the DFB decided that only 12k should be allowed to attend and that it was all-ticket (almost unheard of in Germany). I was there and I was honestly treated like a criminal. I was bussed in and out of the station and spent 30 minutes in the station trying to convince the police to let me out because I lived in Leipzig.

Zwickau went to play in Gotha on Saturday and it was a similar story. Here's a statement in German http://www.fsv-zwickau.de/2011/02/stellungnahme-des-vereins-und-des-fanprojekts-zu-den-geschehnissen-in-gotha/

They were basically accompanied by Zwickau stewards to Gotha on the train and then left to their own devices once they got to the city. No problems whatsoever. They make their own way to the ground, again no problems. Upon arrival at the stadium, there were 25 police vehicles (25!) for 70 travelling fans. They were then 'kettled' and not allowed to move until the start of the match. After the game the police were present with unmuzzled police dogs. Ridiculous. Especially given the example that had been shown a week before at the game against BSG Chemie. No police, no problems.

Of course Pyro is illegal and the Pauli fans shouldn't have had it, but for the police to go striding in with their size 12s is a complete joke. Sounds like it was fortunate no-one was hurt. Police need to start differentiating between hooligans who are bent on causing trouble and ultras who, for the most part, aren't.Davenoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3338911017388638492.post-36455390942644989392011-02-18T08:57:46.976+00:002011-02-18T08:57:46.976+00:00There are some photos from the derby here:
